Beauty Colour Blocking

Colour blocking is not just for clothes, this season saw faces popping with brilliant colours. Forget smudging and blending, now is the time to stand out – be bold!

Eye shadow or eyeliner on the lids and under the eye will make the greatest impact. However, if this is too far outside your comfort zone, try using your hands to apply a bright eye shadow to the lid. This look is still bold, yet much more wearable.

To avoid looking like a clown, keep the face fresh – put down the blusher. If you are feeling particularly daring, try a bright pink lip. Red is risky, but, depending on the bright colour on your eyes, it could work.

Take examples from Loewe, Louise Grey and Peter Som’s spring/summer shows. The latter is a simple, bright colour on the eyelid - the easiest way to work this trend – whereas at Louise Grey the models’ eyes were caked in two brilliant shades of blue, and Loewe’s bold yet no-fuss orange swipe sits somewhere in between.
