Phoebe Philo – well, where shall I start?! The biggest designer in fashion right now, Philo is leading the way for a fashion revolution. Last season, she boldly did away with OTT clothing and ridiculously high heeled shoes and bought a new kind of elegance to the table. Chic. Beautiful. Sexy. But in a completely different way.
Celine A/W 2010-11 was the most highly anticipated show this season. Would Phoebe be able to live up to her Summer collection?
The answer: Yes. Structured coats, beautifully simple white shirts, flattering evening trousers and a monochrome colour palette were the basis for a revolutionary collection. It may sound boring – but it just isn’t. No, there may not be any flashy details. No, there may not be bright colours or prints. No, there may not be huge necklaces that are almost the size of the models. What the collection does have is a beautiful ease about it. It is simple yet exciting. Masculine yet chic. And, possibly the best part, women of all shapes and sizes will feel strong and comfortable wearing the clothes.
